• Curve Control senses when a vehicle is entering a curve too quickly, and can apply four-wheel smart braking to reduce vehicle speed by up to 10 mph in approximately one second and help drivers follow their intended path
• The system will come standard on the all-new 2011 Ford Explorer, part of a suite of safety technologies on the reinvented SUV, including the first inflatable rear seat belt on the market

DEARBORN, Mich., June 28, 2010 – Ford Motor Company today introduced a new innovation – Curve Control – designed to help drivers maintain control of their vehicles when taking a curve too quickly.

Curve Control debuts as standard equipment on the all-new 2011 Ford Explorer going into production later this year, and will be offered on 90 percent of the company’s North American crossovers, sport utilities, trucks and vans by 2015.

The technology senses when a driver is taking a curve too quickly – a situation found to contribute to about 50,000 crashes each year in the U.S. – and rapidly reduces engine torque and can apply four-wheel braking, slowing the vehicle by up to 10 mph in about one second.

“Too many accidents stem from drivers misjudging their speed going into curves and freeway off- and on-ramps,” said Sue Cischke, Ford group vice president of Sustainability, Environment and Safety Engineering. “Ford’s Curve Control technology senses a potentially dangerous situation and reduces power and applies brakes more quickly than most drivers can react on their own.”

NEW YORK, April 1, 2010 – Bark Buckle UP – the recognized leader and experts for pet travel safety – awarded the Pet Safe Choice Vehicle Awards “TOP DOG” today at the 2010 New York International Auto Show. This year, Bark Buckle UP’s founder Pet Safety Lady Christina Selter and her furry friends awarded “TOP DOG” Pet Safe Vehicle of Choice and announced the Pet Safe Hotel, Retailer, and Airline of choice. “Most people don’t think about it, but in only a 35 mph accident with a 60-pound pet it becomes a 2,700-pound projectile. This will injure the pet, passengers, driver or the pet may escape the vehicle and cause a second accident or become agitated and bite the first responder that is on scene doing their job,” stated Selter.

iTunes is a proprietary digital media player application, used for playing and organizing digital music and video files. The program is also an interface to manage the contents on Apple’s popular iPod digital media players as well as the iPhone and iPad. Additionally, iTunes can connect to the iTunes Store via the Internet to purchase and download music, music videos, television shows, applications, , audiobooks, podcasts, feature length films and movie rentals (not available in all countries), and ringtones. It is also used to download applications for the iPhone and iPod touch running iPhone OS 2.0 or later.

MyKey is a security system from Ford Motor Company that allows controlled use of a car with a configurable key. This technology is targeted at parents who wish to share their car with adolescent or young adult drivers. Keys may be configured with a variety of settings, such as limiting the top speed to 80 MPH, to limit the volume of the car’s stereo, or to mute the car audio system until seat belts are buckled.

Ford Motors has announced that MyKey will be a standard feature of the 2010 Ford Focus, and Ford has announced plans to eventually include it on all models.
